Structural insulated panels (SIP)

Structural insulated panels are actually not that new to construction industry. In fact they were first used in late 1930’s and gained some popularity in 1970’s.

 

Here are some of the major advantages of structural insulated panels:

 

-Shorter construction time reducing framing labor by as much 55%    

-Stronger and more rigid house.

-Virtually no waste material on site during construction.

-Superior air tightness and thermal insulation with 60% energy savings. -Meets and exceeds Energy Star requirements. Smaller HVAC units or  convection system and that is another saving.

-SIPs do not contain any unhealthy, harmful compounds. They meet some of the most stringent standards for indoor air quality

-SIPs are one of the most airtight and well-insulated building systems available, making them sustainable and Green product.

-SIPs homes have qualified under American Lung Association’s Health House indoor air quality standard.
